Black and White

At times, when a color photograph looks rather mundane, converting it to a black and white image can make a world of difference. When I took this picture of a small piece of driftwood sitting on the banks of the Arkansas River, the processed file did not reveal the various details I had seen with my eyes.  Converting the image from color to black and white allowed those details, like the motion of the water in the foreground, to really stand out in a way they hadn’t in the color version. This created a picture that is much more interesting than the original color photograph. My settings were 28mm, 1.3 sec., f/22, 200 ISO.
