2020 New Year’s Resolution Update: July Through September

Well, it’s hard to believe 2020 is only three short months from being over.  On one hand, it feels like the time has flown by.  On the other hand, it feels like it has progressed at a snail’s pace.  Like everyone else I know, I never imagined in my wildest dreams that this year was going unfold the way it has, and I am just waiting for it to finally be over.

In the meantime, I set four resolutions for myself relating to my photography. How did I do with meeting my 2020 photography resolutions over the past three months? Well, let’s see.

First, my resolution to write more has progressed rather well.  In mid-April, I implemented the idea of posting a new photo every week.  While some weeks are tougher than others, the one-photo-a-week strategy has, thus far, continued to work out well.

I am continuing to fulfill my second resolution of always being prepared by having a camera within reach at all times.  Fortunately, this is a pretty easy resolution to keep.

My third resolution, photographing more often, has not gone quite as well as I had hoped.  I only made three photographic outings in the last three months, one each month.  Of course, the heat and humidity of July and August quickly saps any desire I might have.  But, the cooler temperatures we’ve had recently are motivating me and getting me excited to get back out there and shoot.

My final resolution, to slow down and enjoy the process of photography, has had mixed results.  But, I thought my recent trip to Collins Creek was successful from that standpoint.  While I did start taking pictures within just a few short minutes of my arrival, I didn’t feel like I was rushing from one spot to the next as I so often seem to do.  And, I must say that was one of the more relaxing trips I’ve had in quite some time.

Obviously, I am meeting some of my resolutions a little more easily than others, but that’s to be expected, I suppose.  But, overall, I am happy with how everything is progressing so far.
